Defying easily categorization, and somewhat overshadowed by the giants of Modernism, such as Le Corbusier and Mies van der Rohe, the architecture of E.G. Asplund is best characterised by the central importance of design that is rooted in human emotions and sensibilities. Eleven realised projects are thoroughly examined here, including the Stockholm Central Library and the UNESCO protected Woodland Cemetery. The interiors and exteriors of all his buildings are richly portrayed on full-page spreads and accompanied with plans, diagrams and introductory texts.
